Laser Cutting

We offer large-format laser cutting and etching using an industrial CO2 laser cutter, giving us a fast and highly accurate way to produce both decorative and structural elements. The machine can cut a wide range of materials including plastics, foams, wood, acrylic and fabric, and can etch intricate designs into many of those same materials, as well as onto most metals. This makes it ideal for everything from repeat patterns, overlays and appliqué shapes to stencils, templates, engraved textures, signage and rigid components for props and costume builds.

In costume, laser cutting is a great way to introduce precise detail, layered surface design and clean graphic shapes. In props, it allows us to create accurate, repeatable parts for assembly, prototyping and fabrication. It is a versatile process that helps us work quickly, consistently and with a high level of finish.

One important exception is PVC, which we do not laser cut, as it releases harmful chlorine gas that is unsafe for both our team and the equipment. Where PVC needs to be cut, we instead use digital blade cutting machines.
